  • Cesna 172 upside down, photo from 1976

Well, better add something to this forum.
    Non-gyro related
My father put the 172 down, may have been carby ice. Lucky that it flipped over, as the Gidgea trees were only another 20 meters away. I remember that the Mitchell grass was a lot rougher than it looks in the photo.
My brother was a passenger at the time, sitting in their seats hanging upside down.
Put it down in a gap in the trees, the nose wheel came off, probably a combination of braking, the grass tussocks and, cracks in the soil.

I have to make the pictures smaller in size for them to open up larger on the forum.
    Go figure!
As you can see, it was in winter time.
