  • Component insurance

    Hello all.

Who would be interested in a component only insurance? (rotors, prop, rotorhead)

I have been in discussion with insurance people and I think that it would be a better argument if there were more people interested. It could be a way to get some sort of comprehensive insurance for home builts. Lets face it, the rest is not that expensive for home builts.

I don't have dollar figures. I am looking for numbers that would be interested in this idea to take it further.

    Let me know your thoughts.

I opt out of wind shield cover in car insurance. The extra premium is about the cost of a wind shield.
With a prop, and nearly all gyros being pushers, there may be a high incidence of stone chips in a prop.
Remember: no matter where you go, there you are

Ross, I wasn't looking at it as a small thing like stone chips. Your point is valid though. My original thought came from soloing people in my aircraft. At least this way the major stuff is covered as the insurance companies are hesitant to insure a Rossco gyro although it is factory built.
