    ATTENTION ALL OWNERS AND OPERATORS OF MTO SERIES GYROPLANESBackground:The owner of an MTO Sport gyro reported that during a training exercise, the strong smell of fuel permeated the cockpit enclosure.The flight was terminated and an inspection of the fuel system revealed that the fuel tanks (both) were cracked and distorted.The distributor of the gyros was contacted and advised that a Mandatory Service Bulletin had been issued by the manufacturer, dealing with this known problem. It is obvious that the distributor at the time (not the current one) failed to pass on this bulletin to all owners and operators in Australia resulting in a potential major hazard developing, something that could have been averted if the Bulletin had been complied with at the time it was issued.The owners and operators of any gyroplane bearing a model number prefaced by "MTO" should comply with the Mandatory Service Bulletin addressing the problem outlined above by referring to and acting on the content of the bulletin contained in the following link:http://autogyro-australia.com/wp-con....pdfCompliance should be considered to be
