Howdy DavebI have nerver been into a Rotax engine but have been turning wreinches for more than 40 years. I can see that the damage to the piston and valve assy. was coused from the theeth from the gear, but I can't say what coused the gear to fail, other than missalignment. You should look at the thrust bearing and the bearing boss's machined in the engine block closely.RegardsSonnyIntelligence is not a privilege,it is a gift and should be used for the good of mankind.
