Last night an ABC helicopter crashed on the eastern side of Lake Eyre killing all on board. Pilot was Garry Ticehurst, ABC journalist, Paul Lockeyer and camerman John Bean. Met that crew last year up north and talked with Garry about his expereinces etc, had lots of hours up and watching him get the chopper ready gave the impression he checked everything out very well. Even though it was a reasonably easy days flying, he had all of the necessary waypoints programmed into the GPS, plus notes on contacts, UHF frequiencies
