Brian, that sounds like an experience I had many years ago. A guy asked me to have a look at the rotor shake in his gyro. I took it for a fly and there was quite a nasty shake. I let go of the stick and all hell broke loose. The stick went for and aft full range at least twice before I re grabbed the stick. I had skin taken from my knuckles!!!!!!!!!!! I felt that the problem was the long control tubes. I then gently wrapped an ocky strap around the two control tubes and mast. The next flight was almost normal. What was needed was a set of scissor type pivot points half way up the control tubes like on the RAF 2000. A resonance had developed with these blades on this particular gyro. Other blade brands were used and had no such problem. As the Castrol ad says "Oils aint oils", all gyros and all blades ain"t the same!!!!!!!!!!!!Aussie Paul.
