  • CAO 95.12 & 95.12.1

Gidday All,As mooted in my report in the last magazine, these CAOs under which we operate will be amended in the near future. The changes are basically want we wanted when CASR Part 103 comes into being. The delay with this legislation has caused CASA to re-issue the relevent CAOs as an interim fix.We have had the opportunity to persue the draft of the new regulations and comment where appropriate will be forthcoming. Probably the most significant change is a new requirement for ALL gyros to carry a placard the same as those required in 2 place machines stating that neither ASRA nor CASA guarantee the airworthiness of the gyro etc. I intend to put to the Board that when this happens, members be issued with a plastic stickon placard produced by ASRA to fulfill this requirement. I have spoken to the Registrar about this and he can do it in the same way that the rego stickers are produced. I think the initial issue should be free, with replacements attracting a small fee to cover costs. You"ll be kept informed as to the progress of the regulations and the placard issue. This reminds me; The Registrar also mentioned that the card printer that is used to print the membership and rego cards has broken down and has been sent to the agents for repair. As a result, 2009 cards may be delayed in reaching some of you.Stay tuned.Regards,Allan Wardill.
