Just for the record.There seems to be an Idea out there that the newer imported "turn key" type gyros (Magni,ELA, MT, Xenon etc)are exempt from the COG testing.This is not the case.The only difference is that the importer or agent,not individual owners, is responsible for the testing of each model.Some importers have already supplied ASRA with excellent information and test results and we thank them for their co-operation.Murray Barker,President.

Thanks, Murray. I think I must have misread it.Aussie Paul. There seems to be the idea that HTL gyros are going to get outlawed /crushed /banned /not registered etc etc. This is not the case!! So a bit of misreading is happening.My advice [as I will be doing ] is to do the tests, submit the photos as per the Gyro News. My gyro is a classic Rosco BTW, 2.2 suby, 76 inch prop, gearbox, 60 litre tank ,pod, 27 ft Patroneys. Those who have been flying these machines for the last 20 odd years are still going to be able to fly them legally, newbies and very low hour pilots will be asked to please leave the HTL gyros and go for a more user frendly that is "stable" which I think given that there are plenty around to choose from, should make life a lot easier for themselves.We have the Magni /MTO /ELA /Xenon/Kruza in 2 seater and the Butterfly /Sportcopter in single seater that comes to mind straight off. Apolagies in advance for anyone I have missed !! All these are turn key models although I think you can assemble the butterfly /sportcopter yourselves if you wish. Of course, our famous Rosco has to be considered as well cause I"m sure he will be only too happy

I assumed when you said newbies would be zero hour pilot then! Would you also consider pilots with other aeronautical experience(s) than on gyro be low hours pilot and or newbies?Next, when you said ".....Those who have been flying these machines for the last 20 odd years are still going to be able to fly them legally...."
