What is the chance of ASRA asking various manufacturers to write an info sheet about their products, and where they not only see where the industry is headed, but also where they believe their particular part/s are headed as well?Since it could be construed as part advertising they may like to contribute to the cost of the website.Ted

The sum total of some manufacturer's paper work consists soley of sending out bills and reminders. With the phone and work, they have little time for much else. If someone offered to type it out for them, they may be interested. Being a captive market, they rarely have to advertise.Tim McClure

Tim, You may well be right. So for new comers to this sport, how do they find out more information about who what when and why other than latching on to the nearest gyro pilot (if they can find one)? What about a Dan Donelly type movie showing some of the basics to really get them into the sport?Ted

G'Day Ted,New comers to the sport can go to the PRA web site where I believe they are/have reinstalled the manufacturers listings. Will be links to all the major manufacturers including Magni but mostly US stuff.Simple google searches for gyro's europe will pull up sites with info on their gyros. My sign off signature lists Larry Neals US web site with info on various models and upgrades, along with spes sheets. Also lots of info on the future Personal Aircraft Vehicles of the future, being designed and built now. Fly drive gyros.Did you know that the Pitcairn PA33 was a larger version of the PA22 for Military use. So impressed with the PA33 was the US Dept of commerce, that back in 1934, they ordered and put into service a special PA33 model gyroplane designated the AC35. The blades could be folded back and with the engine now driving the rear wheel, the vehicle could be road driven. Around the same time the PA36 and PA37 were doing 30 feet jump take-offs. 'Back to the Future'. Videos, videos, videos, they are out there, ask the question, who has what and will you share/copy/send ect. This forum and the US forum provide a great wealth of info, simply by using the search functions, and of course one can get answers to questions by posting on both. 'Horses for courses'.Tim O'Connor on the US forum, call sign Barnstorm, I think, has an FTP server site, which people can access to download many gyro videos, including three by Dan Donnely. I have DVD versions sent out by Steven Kozned (US fella, married to an Aussie Lass), top quality vids. These are available for down load off Tim's site. These are a must for anyones collection of things gyro. Butterfly, Monarch, Dominator, AirCommand, Magni, Russian Gyros ect all to be viewed from this server. Many manufactures have demo vids for sale, must confess I've never bought one, plenty of footage available off the net, the choice is there.Rotorhead, (Shawn Adams) US forum, I believe is an aviation cinematographer and has his own web site with great vids he puts together him self, they rock! Manufacturers in Oz, one offs, might be 10 or 15 blokes in the country doing this. You could get a gyro in 6 months or still not have it 4 years later (sorry Glen).Distributors in Oz, well as for myself, I have a new business partner, we have helped to broker a European manufacturing deal for Butterfly parts, selling back to the US and to us here. We are also manufacturing a large number of components locally and the processes for this take time and investment. We have extended our area to include SE Asia and China and are looking to get kits on shelves before we begin to market the range agressively. Tim is right in that most of the manufacturers are guys who are putting in hugh amounts of time and effort, to the exclusion of most other things and often for little return.I hope your instructor is able to effect his re-configuring his gyro in good time, so as you can get back to the training. Hope this has been of some help.Cheers,Mitchwww.thebutterflyllc.com

Mitch,Thanks for your extensive reply. I've been hunting down various leads as to who has what, and have made use of Tim Chick and Tim O'Connor and watched with interest the new PRA site. Been to quite a few web sites of American and European origon, but am continually dissapointed by the lack of promotion within Australia.I had hoped that ASRA being the governing body for our sport could also be the focal point for this sport. Meaning that people searching for information would reach this site and stay within. Offer enough carrots and people will join. Why can't we produce a Dan Donnelly type video of what is happenig here in Australia rather than relying on foriegn information.Yes I am awaiting Allans rebuild, but I'm getting ichy feet (again).Allan's going to hate all the questions I have.
