Most people drink or smoke [or both] or burn [as in fuel] ten times that in a week, so if anyone bitches bout it be'n expencive is a hypocrit.Ignorance is bliss............but only till you realise you were. You can always get the answer you want, if you ask enough experts.

John,At those prices, you have my full support, my commendations to you for achieving this milestone. However, I have reservations and must ask after several problems obtaining insurance in my business:1. Who is offering the insurance?2. Where are they based, ie, country / city?3. What value of the local funds retained here in Australia, ie, how much is held here in trust?4. Are they an Australian Registered business with ASIC and ATO or are we just going through brokers?5. Who are their re-insurers?6. Who is the broker?7. Are there any 'efficacy' clauses in the contract? If there are the insurance is not worth the paper it is printed on.8. Have the insurers been given a scenario based enquiry on a claim situation to see if they would cough up when required? I did this with several of my brokers, result - they really don't insure you for that, or that, or that, or that... - What? they don't cover me for burst pipes when I'm a plumber?????? This equates to - What???? they don't cover me for crashing through the roof of a house in an engine out emergency landing???? This from a reputable and ancient insurance company based in London, of all this was the greatest surprise.9. Have you tried to get cover for Accident, theft and liability at the same time, it for some funny reason ends up being much less than just plain liability cover - no I don't know why, just ask..I ask these questions because I have previously been offered insurance by the likes of the 'South Seas Surety Company', based in the Phillipines, I ran parallel cover and as detailed in some letters from my broker, they went for about 10 months and then we got a letter from the broker saying that we no longer had cover, fortunately we had co-cover at the time. As one of my brokers put it, if they can't be fronted, they can just put the phone down in another country and then where is your cover?Cheers,Nick.

Ding,It is not my life story. To quote you:"Good judgment comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgment."Read it mate!I'm not attacking John's efforts, I've commended him.I've had some bad experiences in this field, so I can say I might have some good judgements to issue on the matter. You can see a trap when you've been caught in one before, I see a trap and I smell the cheese. Do you want to benefit from my insurance experiences or would you rather see your ASRA $$$$$$$$$$$$ lost through my being quiet?Since you are a member, and I'm a member, would you consider my actions to be to your benefit or otherwise? Please advise.

Nick, I too am a sceptic, especially when it comes to insurance companys. Rest assured that the Board will investigate the policy (and company) with a fine tooth comb before committing ASRA's members dollars.Tim McClure

Hi John Just a quicky, as with Third Party Liability Insurance with vehicles, each vehicle has cover. Is this the case with the gyros, say each gyro registation, or will it be as I read it so far those holding pilot certificates? Not bitchin as I fly from an MBZ with RPT

G'Day Sean, yes the offer is to cover members rather than machines. We have decided to apply this charge to all holders of Flight Crew Certificates from Student up.John EvansThink logically and do things well, think laterally and do things better.
