Hey Barry.Just a small question on the new policy...The way I interpret item 8 means we are no longer able to announce flyins / gyro meets. Is this interpretation correct?(8)* The Web Site is not to be used for commercial advertising, or to promote/announce private or personal upcoming events, (unless the same are submitted by way of paid advertisement), without the express permission of the ASRA Board.Cheers!Lloyd

Gidday Lloyd,I may be jumping the gun here, but it is necessary to explain that the Forum Policy has been implemented because of perceived abuse by some irresponsibles.What you see now is in effect a "beta" version. It can and will be refined as necessary to meet the needs of the membership, and retain a degree of principal.I should also point out that Barry was directed to include this on the Forum. It is NOT his bunny, and any enquiries should be addressed to the Board via the Secretary.The Board is not a collection of moralistic ogres, but a group charged with progressing the sport of gyro flying. No one likes over-regulation, but whilst there are members out there who persist in over-stepping the mark consistently, regulation is obligatory. Your interpretation of paragraph 8 above is incorrect. Fly-ins and get-togethers are the sort of thing that this Forum should be used for, BUT in line with the CARs, it cannot be advertised as a public event. Don't blame me. This is directly from CASA, and I would not like to you or anyone else to be tackled by that entity because of a genuine error. Just be sure to emphasize that the get-together is for persons interested in gyroplanes and sport aviation. DO NOT invite the public at large. That is against the regs.So.If there are any other interpretations required, by all means mention it here, but please direct the initital enquiry to the Board, and include your suggestions for improvement. It is not acceptable to just "knock", without offering an alternative.Now, let the bullets fly.regards,Waddles.

Thanks for the reply waddles. I didnt think it was written with that intent, and I didn't mean to "knock", but the clause does say no announcement of private or personal events. To the ASRA Board...I still think the wording for item 8 may need a change. How about...(8)* The Web Site is not to be used for commercial purposes without the express permission of the ASRA Board. Commercial purpose includes but is not limited to; the promotion/announcement of products, services, or profit making events.Lloyd

G,day.Cant argue against get together rules, Alan, but I should think that If one was going to announce a gathering, It might be safer to add that it is for enthusiusts only and general public is not invited. If the word got out locally and these same public persons wanted to go and rubber neck rather than stay home mowing thelawn, You could be compromised. Some of the CASA boys are not notedfor having common sense !Then on top of that, the public might think we are being eletist and want to crash the party anyway.Life could be a bugger.Cheers.Robert DunnMackay.
