I have approached the local newsagent and he has agreed to place on his display counters some copies of the lastest ASRA magazine. Would it be possible to have some sent to me, so that I can place them with him. Should they not move well there are many others in Toowoomba that might do so to test the waters as well. How much will it cost me and how much should they retail for?TedStrongly opposed to the retriction of free speech

Come on guys some one has got to be able to tell us whiether or not there are left over copies of the last mag, now if for arguement sake they were only 50 extra copies, considering that the Pacific Flyer sells(very well too i might add, have to be there early to get a copy) for $6.95, thats a total of $347.50, just think if every run of the mag we were to get an extra 100 printed and sold thats an extra $695 four times a year, and bugger me if that many wouldnt sell...obviously some of that would have to go to the onwer of the store, maybe a dollar or two, per issue, isnt it worth trying at least, try it for one issue if it is seen to be be a flop then I for one will very surprised and apologize.. Alright Bones and Ted,Suggestion, we pool our 'dosh' and offer to buy ever excess mag ASRA have in stock. Should the stock be acquired, placed and sold through the Agency, the monies raised can be put forward and placed in an account to run along side any monies donated by Birdy. Again, this would need to be co-ordinated and done in conjunction with the goals and objectives of Training School Joint Venture Group. What you think???I reckon there would be lots of people walking a mag off the stands. I like your idea Greg, though one question if i may, why should we members have to pay twice to do this?Look i dont know how it would or should work i've never done anything like this but surely someone with in our ranks has this type of experience and can give some kind of advice, and if we get more mags printed there could be the possiblity of the mag costing less to produce..Ok i just read in the last mag that we members can buy old copies of the mag for 2004-2005 years for $5.00, 2000-2003 for $3.00,and farther back to for some copies to 1988, so it is obvious that we have old copies of those, so why not atleast try it???r0t0rcraft.com.au

ASRA INFORMATION AND NEWS. This is where information to both members and the public view and comment about matters important to the Association.Bones, this is the title and intro to this area of the forum, so I guess that's why Ted placed his querry here.He also offered to purchase said mags if need be. Ted posted on the 27th of last month. Probably says something about Ted....Nah! Nah! Nah! Ted just messin with ya head Mate. Maybe the Preacher should have redirected you.I guess Ted has a right to be peeved, he is after all trying to generate interest in this sport but I would have gone straight to the person who could supply the stock. Ask for promo's (reads freebies) and if not negotiated a reasonable price.Mark I agree, to grow this sport we need exposure and 'lay about' editions of the Gyro News, gathering dust if placed on agency shelves will walk out the door. Flyin laps at Phillip Island, low and slow, with a 700 fpm vertical decent and dropping in with a Monarch sporting a new Aerotwin 65hp two pot fourstroke, with GFLG soaking it all up would get some interest to, I imagine. I've put this out to more than one Board member also.Approach the one who can make the decision to assist. If they cant put them out on 'tick' then I'll be prepared to help purchase a batch with the money Llewella sent back for Keiths rebuild.Mitch.www.thebutterflyllc.comA thinker sees his own actions as experiments and questions--as attempts to find out something. Pete, it was placed here for a number of reasons. Firstly since the matter is addressed in such a manner to gain access to the board as a whole not just Llewella, secondly it was placed here to guage the response of those using the forum and to allow imput from those users into this concept.Thirdly, it shows that there are people outside the board who are also trying to generate interest in the sport if given the opportunity, but the opportunity appears to be wasted.Given that not one member of the board took the opportunity to reply either privately or publicily on this issue is concerning.TedStrongly opposed to the retriction of free speech

Gentlemen,I have been watching this thread with interest, Teds idea of the Gyro magazine in the local newsagency is in "my opinion" a great one, however we must have something to offer the newly enthused reader when he turns up to the local club, for example being able to give a TIF which requires a two place Aircraft and instructor. This may be the reason that "our" board is reticent in going down this path at this point in time.In our case in W.A, at Bindoon Airstrip at this point in time we can not offer the above, however the same club we belong to can...either in Thrusters, a Drifter and on some days skyfox and lightwing.By courtousy of "Birdy" with his magnificent and generous gesture of helping out us in the West we will be able to realise our end ambition to fulfill the above, as from to day Adrian and myself have started the project. To give an example of how other arms of aviation operate I add an excerpt of what I as a member recieved by Email today. NARROGIN GLIDING CLUB VISITMembers, family and friends of the Royal Aeronautical Society have been invited to visit the Narrogin Gliding Club to share the experience and thrills of glider flying. This can be a day visit or a two day event staying over night. The facts are; When March Saturday 11th and Sunday 12thWhere Narrogin AirfieldTime Flying starts about 11.00am SatAbout twelve Gliders will be flying and flights of about 1/2 hour duration(minimum)will be available to us at a cost of $120.00 / flight (includes insurance). A tow plane tows the gliders to about 2,000 / 3,000 feet and releases. Subject to weather and thermals, the flight could last from 1/2 hour to several hours. Narrogin is a pleasant two hours drive South West of Perth in the wheat belt. There will be a sausage sizzle for lunch ($1.00 ea) or you are welcome to bring a picnic lunch. Tea and coffee is available at the club house. A Weber evening dinner ($15.00 ea) is planned in the club house which has a licensed bar. For those who plan to stay over night there are caravan facilities ($10.00 /night)available at the airfield. Camping is also allowed ($5.00 / night)Narrogin Motel is $77.00 over night for a standard double unit.As can be seen there is plenty that they can offer........and with various options, as also can be seen this is done at a "club" level, all the best.Pete Barsden
