Dear Member,The following has been received from ROTAX:The following NEW MANDATORY Rotax Service Bulletins have been released:SB-912-049, SB-912-049ULCHECKING OF ECCENTERS AND FUEL PUMP FOR ROTAX ENGINE TYPE 912 (SERIES)SB-912-050, SB-912-050ULCHECKING OR REPLACEMENT OF FUEL PUMP PART NO. 892230/892235 FOR ROTAX ENGINE TYPE 912 (SERIES)** Important Note!Rotax releases separate Service Bulletins for non-certified engine models. These service bulletins only contain information regarding the non-certified engine models effected by the service bulletin.Full service bulletin information and instructions are found in the certified service bulletin (without the UL designator).Owners and operators of non-certified engine models must download and review both the certified and UL versions of the service bulletin to obtain complete service information. These new Service Bulletins may be downloaded from www.rotax-owner.com SB-912-049 - http://www.rotax-owner.com/si_tb_inf...-049&S_TYPE=NW SB-912-049UL - http://www.rotax-owner.com/si_tb_inf...49UL&S_TYPE=NW SB-912-050 - http://www.rotax-owner.com/si_tb_inf...-050&S_TYPE=NW SB-912-050UL - http://www.rotax-owner.com/si_tb_inf...TYPE=NWSERVICE BULLETIN SUMMARIES:THESE SUMMARIES ARE GENERAL IN NATURE AND ARE NOT INTENDED TO REPLACE THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IN THE SERVICE BULLETINS.ALL OWNERS, OPERATORS AND MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL SHOULD OBTAIN AND CAREFULLY REVIEW THE FULL TEXT OF EACH SERVICE BULLETIN.SB-912-049In some instances, surface roughness on the gearbox eccenter that drives the fuel pump can lead to premature and excessive wear on the fuel pump plunger. In cases where an inspection of the fuel pump plunger reveals excessive wear, both the fuel pump and driving eccenter must be replaced. Replacement of the driving eccenter necessitates the removal of the gearbox from the engine.SB-912-050In limited cases production deviations can result in the fuel pump (PN 892230 / 892235) developing excessive fuel pressure. The output pressure of the fuel pump must be checked across the entire engine RPM range, and if excessive fuel pressure is noted, the fuel pump must be replaced. The fuel pump gasket / spacer must be replaced on all affected engines, regardless of fuel pump pressure output.Warranty AssistanceLimited warranty assistance will be available to help offset some of parts and labor costs associated with compliance with these service bulletins. For the owners of affected Rotax engines in the Americas, full warranty program details are still being developed but will be released no later than May 31, 2006. Owners of affected engines in the Americas should contact their nearest authorized Service Center after May 31, 2006 to obtain full warranty assistance details.
