  • Exhaust Gasket for 582

Hi Guys,I have a 582, the old silver head one.I"m thinking that if i install egt sensors the filings from drilling could end up in the motor unless i take the manafold off.

Dean, if the gaskets are not burnt out, you should be able to use the old ones with a smeer of silastic on each side.

Hm,I was going to say... does it matter if it leaks anyway.. just watch where the hot gasses might go.

Dean, take the manifold off, drill it, and if the gaskets are OK, you may want to do as Tim said using Silicone, or Gasket Goo.If not, then I always use genuine. I always replace rather than re-use, as I hate having to do a job twice just because I was trying to save money. Then clean the manifold as best as you can, and once you fire it up it will (at worst) blow the remaining fileings into the muffler, not the motor.Sam...
