  • EJ22 Plug caps

Be carefull when you push your plug caps on. You are supposed to release the air out when pushing them on by pushing a piece of wire down the side to allow the release of air. I have never done this until now. I had a plug cap blow off while warming the engine up. I found a small amount of water in the plug hole (from washing). I dried this out and warmed the engine up and everything seemed O.K. On climbout the engine stopped dead. When I got back on the ground I found the same plug wire off. I rang a mate who informed me of the burping process and the read the plug lead box, which tells you to do this. I think I will also make a secondary retaining device. I"m aware of this occurring on 2 gyros now. Ken

Thats good info Ken, thanks....It is funny how you think.. "of course"... after you read it, but damned if I would have worried about prior to this.

Yeah Brian. I didn"t have much height and when they stop it feels like you threw an anchor out. I

The soob plug caps have a small v cut in the two sealing rings, allowing the air to escape. The aftermarket does not have them. I cut them in mine and flew with no problems. Ken

Surprises me too Ken that they cut out. Have you the Wolf computer? You did real well from 150 feet !! Yes, if you ever wondered how much thrust your gyro puts out, try turning the noise off with WOT !! Dont try it at home unless you got at least 500 feet AGL min and be prepared for a very quick response !!

One good reason not to use a car ecu for an aircraft. I have come home on 3 cylinders with a Motec ecu.Aussie Paul.
