It would be awesome if somebody could post comparative figures for a ej22

Nearly 600 lbs of thrust from 1000cc is good in any terms - should haul any fat ass 2 seater around. It is hard to get figures for a good EJ 22 or EJ 25. I have always pulled out well short of maximum for fear of bending/breaking something in the airframe. If I get the chance to try it again I will try with a "bridle" setup from the top of the mast and the tail to distribute the load.

an ej22 (130hp).........gives similar max thrust, therefore i think this suzuki figure may be wrong. Might pay to get the meter checked.Actually have the ej25 figures somewhere...........will try to find them. ( accurate too ).........for memory i think that figure was around 360kg.......700 odd lbs. Makes these suzuki figures look even more suss........ej25 being 170 plus HP
If you aim for nothing, you'll hit it every time

A 1L engine with tuned intakes and 11psi boost will make about the same hp as a 2L naturaly aspirated engine. The factory figure is 100hp. The importers quote them as 120hp. With a 78" prop the thrust figures will be close. The testing has been on a test stand. With the factory intercooler full power is only short one minute bursts as when the MAT reaches 83 degrees it looses power. The factory intercooler is 125 by 125mm. A 200 by 200mm intercooler mounted in front of the prop should give a 5 minute burst on full power which will be enough for a single seater.

This is what started me on the K10A.http://www.rotaryforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5735 I"ve tried getting the web page up from Adelaide Jap wreckers which is where I bought it but can"t find it now. They had it advertised as 125hp. With the high manifold air temp when on full boost, the waste gate may have have been tweeked a bit to give the higher horsepower. Apart from that Russell it sounds like you need to give your suby"s a tune.

Checking that prop diameter, are you sure thats a 78 inch ??A sooby 2.2 is around 120 hp I thought but gets lots of toque low down where its very happy.

78". Rob Patroney made it for me. He lengthened the round clamp up section on each blade one inch. The K10A gets full torque at about 4000 and seems to hold it to over 6000. I dont think this motor would last long if it had to pull a constant 90-100hp, but for mustering where the average requirement is 50-60hp with bursts of full power, it may clock up some hours.

Thanks Peter for clarifying the prop length. It seems that many engines really struggle to do many hours at

If it was 40 kg lighter it would be a real winner !Just put 40 litres less fuel Brian, quite simple really.Graeme.

I"ve thought about those things you mentioned Brian, but when I have an idea that may be a goer I"ve got to see if it works. I"ve pulled this motor down and I think the weak point in these motors may be the camshaft journals if the oil gets hot. It"s hard to go past a rotax for power to weight of the engine and gearbox, but working on thrust to weight of engine gearbox and fuel load some of the newer fuel efficient engines running a large dia prop may do it. If I can keep mustering cruise rev"s down between 4500-5000rpm it may get 1000 hours and will be good value compared to a rotax, but time will answer that one.

Thanks Tsemler, they have got one listed here.http://www.adelaidejap.com.au/adelja...nginepacksWhen I bought mine mine they had them advertised as 125hp but I took it as a bit of sales pitch as the factory rating is 100hp.
