Here is an interesting link for a simple Turbocharger. I have no idea if the claims are correct but I think the concept is not a bad one. http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/ho...d=952Something like this might at least maintain horsepower on a high DA day, who knows?Hoges

My son is a diesel fitter as I am, however he is turbo crazy. He tried a similar device with similar claims that he bought off e-bay & end up tossing it in the bin. They are just a air conditioner type fan in principle putting out good cfm but stuff all pressure, you can put your hand over the outlet & hold the pressure in.

Deano is right, 24 watts is nothing but I"m more interested in the idea of a boosted air intake like a standard type turbo but without thecomplication of oil connections, scavenge pump, waste gate and cost of a normal turbo. With the right sized electric blower you could get any amount of boost you wanted and it can"t be any simpler than an electric motor with one moving part. It would only be limited by the juice available in the battery and getting the right mixture etc. I just bought a 12 volt 40 amp hour Lithium Ion battery which weighs just 6.5kgs. It wouldn"t be hard to get 2-300 watts or a lot more for a short time to pump some serious air and use more than one battery. My 2 bobs worth.Hoges

Turbos and super chargers for diesels is great but for petrol, they are fraught with danger as temps can go sky high and reliability can be compromised. Increased temps lead to higher oil temps /increased valve wear/ head warping etc etcMy limited experience has shown that naturally aspirated is the way to go...unless you go buy a rotax 914!
