They reckon it's not over 'til the Fat Lady sings.Well I don't know anyone who'd be game to call Llewella the Fat Lady, but she spent all day today negotiating [? terrorising] high levels in CASA, eventually extracting a promise from the appropriate official that the last hurdle for the Nationals would be cleared on Friday, I expect she will burst into song when she receives the phone call. It seems some of the problems previously encountered could be blamed on a misunderstanding with the Snowy Mountains Aviators in the early stages of their application for the MBZ to be downgraded to a CTAF for the Nationals. They did everything correctly according to advice they had.Time was said to be running out when an unexpected hurdle was encountered in the form of a 'Safety Review'. It seems that there would be a shortage of staff to carry this out at such a late stage, as many had duties at Avalon Airshow.I am sure all members will greatly appreciate the intervention of the people in CASA, especially Rob Glenn and Andrew Ward, who were able to see the correct priorities.John EvansThink logically and do things well, think laterally and do things better.

Some may be astute enough to ask what Fat Ladies have to do with Engines. I would have to admit 'not very much'. This is just an indication of my incompetance in this post, nothing more.John EvansThink logically and do things well, think laterally and do things better.

Poor me, sitting upstairs getting 135 letters ready to send to people who have forgotten to pay their membership renewal by the due date, and I receive a phone call from a member telling me John has posted about two people, the fat lady and me! It was a long, tense day, but we won out in the end!! At 3.22 I received THE CALL. Phew! I always had 'faith' that we could win this battle, even though there were a lot of doubting Thomases out there!LlewellaGoing the extra miles puts you miles ahead of your competition.

Thanks for the question Tim, it gives me the opportunity to get this thread on topic.[)]I'm still waiting for the Reduction Drive and Engine Management system to arrive, I know they are in the country and in safe hands. I have to send the circiut boards back for modification as my 12A Turbo has only 2 injectors, Tracy Crook is only familiar with the 4 injector version. As I'm running the engine right way up, and I don't want too many things sticking up through the top of the cowl, I've had to modify the Thermostat housing exit. For some time now I have been working on the Landing gear making a Cross member. The tricky bit is organising the force path from the springs, through the Cross member and into the wood structure of the fuselage. I am indebted to Col Smith and his Structural Engineer friend for this design. If the Empty weight ends up at 300 kg we will have a very light gear for one which complies with normal aircraft impact absorbing requirements as it appears to be going to weigh 25 kg for wheels, legs, and cross member, i.e.just over 8%. Pazmany quotes the typical aircraft landing gear as usually about 12%.Sorry you asked now Tim?Hey Woz, It looks as though I'm still in trouble as rotaries don't have big ends, thanks for the good thought though.John EvansThink logically and do things well, think laterally and do things better.
