Dave I am pretty sure they are the same apart from the cooling bypass system and ceramic disc"s on the water pump seal.They both had the higher strength crank,both had oil injection and both had CDI ignition.Same horsepower as well.

The blue head has the water bypass system and the ceramic disc seals.The bypass system was to stop water pump cavitation and for a more even warm up.If you are looking to buy one Paul Campbell has a blue head 582 for sale,5 hours TT,E type box. 07 38782666.
