I know it"s not a gyro.... yet but at 80 kw and with 160 km range in the car, power plants like this will be able to run onour gyros in the next few years;http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrNmplhx7ag&NR=1two bearings, an armature and that"s it for moving parts and no fuel to catch on fire in an accident.No gearbox and about 200 less moving parts as well.Electric gyros are almost here.Hoges

a mate of mine has a very light single seater and he`s been flying for thirty years but i don`t think he`s gone past the fence at the airport yet, i sayd to him the other day hi should be electric powered on acount of he never gets out of extension cord range

I started to build a test rig with a motor and prop a guy loaned me but I took so long he wanted his motor back before I could test it.If anyone is interested in working on an electric gyro and has a few parts, like an old airframe or something, give me a call or email as I reckon it would be a good project. Probably for your mate that flys around the fence at the airport to start with though.Hoges
