obviously it"s not any thing to do with my horizontal stab. because it flys straight and level hands off. that was some of the stuff going through in my head while up there. my concern is the load on the stick to the left. at the time i had washed down the rotors and sprayed them with "inox". the wallum country i am at is a bit like being at the beach. not good for ally. so because the rotors were " oily" perhaps??? the stick was it"s usual as smoothe as.something which i have always been proud of. once again any help would be appreciated .

      I don"t reckon it"s the flywheel.

Tony,I have not heard or experienced the sort of change your experiencing with just a flywheel change. I have experienced it when I have put on a big dia prop say 68 to 76 with a new ratio redrive. In this case I have just needed to change the pushrod length to compensate for a little more head offset. You said that all you have done is reduce the pitch a little so I am perplexed and would be keen to hear what you find is the instigator of the control load change. First up I would change the pitch back to confirm or deny that the pitch change was the culprit. Keen to see if others can shed light on your problem.Just my 10c worth, adrian

Tony I"m wondering if the "inox" has altered the laminar flow over the rotor. That would be a quick one to test by applying say metho over the blades to clean it off. Easier still only the outer 1/3 of the blades since this is where most of the lift is developed.

Tony, you may want to check fore/aft pivot bolt & lateral pivot bolt bushing for fitting. These maybe some of the simplest things we oftenly neglect before exploring others. Lou

A Good tip from Louww, check out all connections very carefully. I cant see anything you did regarding the flywheel making any difference like you have described. You have to be careful when assuming that this has caused that when most times coincidence is the cause. Assuming has got me into lots of hot water over the years & now the only thing I presume is that my backside points to the ground most of the time !

hay Tony, i put a very simple design on my ea81 but to a hirth g 40 using a ring gear and a 5mm thick fly wheel with the centre spline from an old clutch and bolted this straight to the crank shaft. Then the donut with the Male spline on it, so the to slide together, very simple and seams to work fine.Matt 07 46 232 661

From my experimenting experience!!! Certainly going from a lightish to a heavier flywheel WILL give the machine a different feel. Every time you move the stick there will be some effect from extra gyroscopic precession, not much BUT it will be there and can be enough to set you on edge especially if you have not done a lot of experimenting. Then you start looking for problems!!!Aussie Paul.

ok i wiped the residual spray off all the rotors, checked the controls again. i had been thinking the lateral pivot bushes shouldn"t be a problem because it wasn"t hard to pull the stick

Funny about the probs people are having with autoflite boxes.I"ve got 1 had it on a ea81 for a few years now.Allways been worried about how hot it gets after a fly.Being half blind I gave it a oil change and put to much oil in it.Seems to run cooler.Soooo is the little site bubble in the wrong place, should it be up on the housing higher??

Justin, I agree totally, the thing should be 3/4 full of oil, more oil, more fluid to disappate heat/ more fluid to lubricate etc. You only have to look at my loader, 208 litres of hydralic oil it holds, doesnt that tell you something
