Gidday All,A member directed me to this information from Gates belt manufacturers re the above.Probably pay to take their advice when the time comes to replace your timing belt.Regards,Waddles.

After ringing Gates, timing belt manufactures, the clearance between the cam belt and the guide housing is approx. 0.40 thou this equals 1 mm.This damage only happens to engines from a manual car, according to Gates.
