I thought the EA81 subaru engine was primitive with a hole just bored through the block and the cam just poked in with no bearings. I pulled the cam out of my 6 cyl. 98 ford and the cam is just plonked onto a rough cast and the other rough cast plonked on top. I"m happy to say after removing cams and heads off the EJ25 it seems to be of a higher quality
