  • EA81 Oil cooler?

I have a fuel injected ea81 running electronic ignition and my oil temp on take off today reached 260 Deg F. Water was only around the 190 Deg F mark.I"ve got a nice little oil cooler off a 3300 Jabiru engine and I haven"t got a clue of where the best place is for pickup and return lines from the motor?Any help here would be greatly appreciated.Geoff

I bought 1 from AUTOBARN , a couple of years ago ,cause they had it and I don" buy stuff on line cause I can"t , so it was about $80 I think . I wouldn"t of bothered to make one anyway. what engine is that westoz besides being an ea81 I mean . is that a rally head motor.

Hi Guys, I don"t wish to sound picky. Its a good idea to fit a oil cooler to your engine, if it needs it. Engines need to have cold air to run properly. To have the oil cooler stuck inside the air cleaner will only supply hot air to the engine. That"s why the air intake is piped through intercoolers to make sure the intake air is cold. This will ensure the fuel/air ratio is almost perfect. The perfect ratio 14 - 1. On the average car, the intake to the air filter housing is poked out the front so forward travel of the car forces cold air into it system. Maybe Supercheap or Repco stock the oil filter remote kit.

Never seen one setup in the air filter b4 and did realise it wasn"t a real good idea. Just wanted to know how to get the oil in and out and of course the universal sandwich adapter is perfect, thanks guys

Tony you should be familiar with the floor space that the engine occupies. Also the silver painted block, heads and the quality of the workmanship is a big hint as it comes from your neck of the woods. I use the hot oil as a more of a carb heat device than an oil cooler. Today"s temp was 19.4 degrees and 79% humidity. May not be as efficient as ducting hot air in but I would reckon that it would be on par with hot water as carby heat? If it doesn"t work properly I can always plumb it as a oil cooler.

I thought I recognized it, but it"s been a while. I looked at buying it , I didn"t need it but just because it was there and it could fit in my ute I considered adding it to the cart. [ bit like going grociery shopping when your hungry, a big no no ! ]
