  • Mothballing 503 rotax for a month.

Gents,Going away for a month. Can turn hub on re-drive and engine has good compression. Have taped up/plugged up all ports (in and out) on engine. Is there a need to spray oiul into it or do anything special for such a short period of time?????Cheers,Mitch.www.thebutterflyllc.com

MitchI know you had a Rotax 503 fitted with B box.During your Accident, the prop struck the ground still spining.I would recommend you check your crank for any twisting, it may have been subjected to very high inertial loads that may have bent your crank. If so, this condition will chew out bearing real quickly, and I mean quickly. If you were running a C or E box this would not be a problem.I had a ground prop strike on an old 532 fitted witha B box years ago, and when we checked the crank, we found it to be way out of spec. set by Rotax.Good luck Sam.
