  • NSI Reduction Drive Questions

HelpI have a NSI drive on my EA81, with 50 hours total time.It makes a rattle noise at idle (1000 rpm engine speed). Is this normal. The rattle is gone at 1100 rpm. Second problem is I have got a small oil leak between the NSI drive and the adapter plate. What sealant product should I use for this application.Ross B

Ross, I have a NSI redrive on mine as well - I used Loctite Blue Max silicone when fitting it up , no leaks. Its a bit hard to answer about the rattle without hearing it. Mine is a bit noisy also at idle but it sounded just like two others I have seen ; I had it checked out before it was installed & it had new bearings so am confident that it is OK. I flew from Cessnock to Rutherford - Luskintyre- Branxton- Cessnock today doing a TIF , great day for flying.Looking forward to flying up to Denman one day. Eric

Yamaha 3 bond is the best stuff, no ifs or buts. Ian Morcombe had the same leak and the 3 bond fixed it. It's available at all bike shops and is used to join engine and crankcases. Ken. It;s the grey coloured stuff.

For those of us who have an NSI redrive>>>http://groups.yahoo.com/group/airsoob/message/38032Okay, here's the deal. I've got it directly from the horses mouth, withpermission to tell anyone who'd be interested. Some two weeks ago, the investor company behind NSI, personified by LeGrandHarris stepped in and fired everyone at NSI, including Lance Wheeler. Theyhave since hired back Craig, the tech guy, but not many more. They are inthe process of restructuring the company, a process already started by MikeElliott (who was put forward by LeGrand to do this job). The new companywill most likely not involve Lance Wheeler.Having heard some of the plans, I must say that this whole thing can only begood news for NSI, as indeed the way the company was operating does not gainany prizes for customer care (having endured the company for the whole yearit took to get me my engine, I think I can tell a few things about that). The company is currently in some state of suspense, pending execution of theplans that are being made now. There's a bright future for NSI, I am sure. But until that future is there,we NSI customers are out here on our own (I was lucky to get my enginedelivered right before all this, although there are still a number of partsmissing that I really was supposed to be getting.)Hans
