The following is taken from the Kuntzleman 2008 Catalog.Lets check out some RULES, and Terms. No lights are required to fly from "SUNRISE" to "Sunset", this is defined as DAY by the FAA. The next term is "CIVIL TWILIGHT", this is defined by the FAA as the period just before sunrise and just after sunset. Starting & ending when the sun is 6 degrees below the horizon. The rule of thumb is 1/2 hour before and 1/2 hour after. It is usually the best time to be flying a small plane.Last is the term NIGHT. That is the period from the end of civil twilight to the beginning of civil twilight the next morning. Now what is required for an ultralight? A legal ultralight is covered under FAR103 which states to fly during CIVIL TWILIGHT all you need is a strobe that is visible at 3 stature miles and NO flying at NIGHT.With a Light Sport License you CANNOT fly at night, but you may fly during CIVIL TWILIGHT, providing the plane you are flying is properly equipped. So to cut a long story short, the 3 Miles Kuntzleman promotes is during civil Twilight and not during the day. Both the SC103 and the SS-TM Magnum fully comply.Regards Sam La Bruna......

I would like to make one more point which is, here in Australia if you are operating within 8km (5NM) of an aerodrome your machine must be fitted with a flashing beacon and in use. ASRA Ops. Man. section 4.10-4 operations at aerodromes.Regards SamL.

Hey Sam, any plans to do a streamlined version like the other mob?I need two for the Little Wing.Yep its the Double Magnum 12 VDC Model with Streamline Combo (DDM-SLC). I have currently sold one and have another in stock, which was going to be installed onto my new gyro. This unit has in built position lights. Green LED"s for right, and red LED"s for left. It also has white LED"s on back. Strobe is mounted high in middle. The strobe bulb fires a rapid double flash on one head and then the other in an alternating pattern. The first flash catches the eye and the second identifies your position. (Same as SS-TM) Total flash rate is 74 per min.Sale Price for the DDM-SLC is $470.00 each plus postage.Regards Sam..... ;D
