Thanks for the photo"s. Clayton was flying this craft for a while but has succumbed to family pressure to stay on the ground which I think is more dangerous when it comes to chasing cows. The craft flies well and very stable as Ive given Clayton a few Hrs. training in it. Not nearly as much power as an EJ25 of course but performs very well with one up. Quite a neat machine and I consider it well made. When Clayton first purchased it it ran rough at full throttle but it turned out to be a fuel pump low pressure. (It had the fuel filter on the out-put side of the pump) Which was corrected and the pump replaced.

max, I have 2 fuel filters on the out side of "each" pump. and yes when they get dirty it will run lean. then I change them. and thinking abut your cruiser problems , on my car it was playing up recently and the computer was only allowing it to have a very low fuel pump pressure , which made it run pateticly crapp. soooo have you checked that on your engine ???? probably.I know that"s just me talking without knowing , just want to help cause you helped fix my radio remember.

That machine looks like it has carby and distributor Max?Fuel Injection gear needs a strainer before the high pressure pump and a filter after the pump to protect the injectors.Aussie Paul.

Yes Paul, she"s a carby and Dist model. Modified from EFI with another intake manifold I think.

Heh Brian, When the cost of an EFI system is more costly than a carby and distributor, the makers of the machines look at dollars rather than performance. Also the knowledge factor would come into it.

Brian, that is how my first RAFs were set up. As I have mentioned a few times, changed to EFI, picked up 100 engine rpm, reduced fuel consumption by 20% and got rid of the carby ice problems. A win win win!!!!Aussie Paul. Okay, thanks, that explains all !!So pleased that they had changed to the EFI / FI sytem by the time I got my engine

I think the only advantage of a carb. system is a bush cowboy can generally "get her going" when she plays up half way through a muster. EFI is defiantly more efficient (As long as you don"t get a huge EMR burst from a nearby lightning bolt) Or one of the many mini plugs come loose, or a dirty fuse and "bring you down" :"(

The EFI / electronic ignition performed faultlessly although we did get some moisture one time in the igniter so that wasnt a bad innings and its still in a "going" condition. Just needs a new head bearing & she"s right to go. Havent had the time to get the head done but I will do it & take the old girl for a lap or two!
