Mate recently returned from overseas........keen aviator. Watched a test flight of a helo, that has no collective at all, but still vertically lifts off, and lands. It"s all done by rotor speed only, he also noted that the rotors were "flat" underside, just like gyros. You never know.........this could spin off into gyros....... ??? ;D

i"m sure some of the already proven technoligy could be used to build a vertical take off and landing machine.not to mention easy to fly.And if the batt/engine runs out suddenly, you cant auto, just like Paul said, but it dont matter, coz your not sitn init.

Not to mention the fact that 10 year old girls can do things like ride bicycles and play soccer far easier than 40, 50 and 60 year old men!If anyone has looked on another thread of the forum at the moment, there is a bloke selling his damaged gyro as parts. He has 100 or so hours up. I reckon there is enough bent Gyrocopters out there without old blokes spinning up blades to fantastic speeds, sticking their tounge out sideways and trying to co-ordinate their once spritely bodies to do things that they once did without thinking.Ever wondered why the Grey haired pilots in the RAAF fly desks? No doubt, the technology exists out there for contra rotating rotors, but with factory built gyros costing up to 80 odd grand these days who is going to be able to afford them? Most blokes that can afford to fly helicopters are all ready flying them the rest of us fly GyrosMark.
