How to Test Ignition Coils ?

Found the problem.. Its not the Dampening box.It has to be coils or points.. Can anyone help with a link etc on how to go about testing ?Thanks so much if you can.This info seems hard to come by.Kc

I test my coils and points by exchanging them ( one at a time) with a known-good ( ie brand new ) identical unit.

Thanks, Do you know if they can be bench test by a Auto elec.. ? Do you know the tolerances of the points for the 503 ?Cheers
