Anything security related would apply more to us than anyone else, we have a nasty capability to be able to sneak under the radar, low and slow...I haven't seen the ad, but CASA should be obligated to distribute any warnings that are given to GA pilots to us as well.

You should be receiving an information brochure from DOTARS [Department of Transport and Regional Services] in the next couple of weeks. So there's something to look forward to in your mail box.At one stage when John had the VW Gyro, I bought him a sticker that said "only the pilot is permitted to open or close this door"! Some will have trouble with the following quote from the advert in Pacific Flyer - "Standard door locks supplied with the aircraft are not considered as adequate anti-theft measures." It doesn't actually say you have to have doors though!!LlewellaGoing the extra miles puts you miles ahead of your competition.

My local police visited me 12 months ago to have a look at what was in my shed and how secure they were (3 gyros). He also visited Jaspers Brush (ultralights. He's ön the ball" as he worked in bomb disposal in Northern Ireland. He was also trying to get a data base on people trained in explosives (like myself) but Tafe have kept no records on who was trained and so he was relying on the memories of people like myself. I think our proximity to an airbase may have something to do with it. Don't feel threatened as this seems a necessity in the current world. Ken

I think the knowledge required to get a gyro off the ground is security enough from any marouding foreign forces.. besides, based on public perception, I don't think anyone other that a gyro pilot would be game to jump in, they might kill themselves...Cheers,nick.

For real mate. He really new his stuff and immediately I.D. some not normal dets I had. He did the bomb demo for security at the olympics and blew up a car. It's not big brother, he has a genuine interest in security and can't believe that we don't take more care of everything. It's not the bomb thing but the other stuff you can distribute from the air. I meant the whole scene is turning "BIG BROTHER", the Govt. wants to know everything about you & what you do & then make laws to make you conform." They'll take my guns when they prise them from my dead cold hands"..or something redneck like that. Oops, I shouldnt have used the word "guns"....I can expect a knock on my door tomorrow. The freedom we once used to have here in Oz is gradually being taken away... & we let it happen. Eureka Stockade springs to mind. This walloper blew up a car , eh? Where was he born - Iraq?X

Ferals,Gents and ladies alike. The whole aviation industrie is at a loss as to what is an appropriate measure of security. There was a suggestion recently to think of the consequence of a persons body mass being a high explosive. Then have that person fly anything at all into the sydney stadium. If the aircraft is disabled then that would reasonably be construed as secure.Just keep an open mind hey. Lotta freaks out there.
