  • headsets and microphones

I`m using Earmould earplugs to hear my Icom A24 vhf radio in my open cockpit 582. Anybody know someone who can make up a `boom microphone` on a stick to suit the radio that I can attach to my helmet?? And presumably I`ll need an amplifier to boost the signal. I`m sure someone`s been down this track before. I`ve spoken to Rosco but he can`t help. Any ideas guys?

Hey mate,Wayne at Range Avionics in Toowoomba made my set-up.My radio already had a PTT button and General Aviation sockets and I had earmold ear plugs.I got Wayne to make up a couple of metre cord with General Aviation plugs at one end and a 3.5mm headphone jack (to plug the earmolds into) and boom mic at the other end. I mounted the boom in the jaw piece of the helmet and the headphone socket is also mounted in the helmet. It seems to work very well. Google "Range Avionics" to find him. I think it cost about $250-$300.Let me know if you need more info,Bryce
