I took the opportunity to view the segment and came away thnking its all old old news. I also couldn't help but think that most people would think it possible to simply fly airscooter or skycar without any prior air knowlege given the presentation. It amounted to very poor journalism.Ted

Well,You'd be pleased to know I'd offered this bagging, might be interesting if it goes to air...'The sky's the limit' Date: Yesterday 22:01:11 From: Nicholas Tomlin (Neast Pty Ltd) To: 60minutesmailbag@nine.com.au Hello,This show was a joke to me.... talk about rewarmed, recycled, rehashed and regurgitated conceptual garbage. The Moller Sky car has been pie in the sky for longer than i can remember, the bloke has been soaking up capital for years and shown no real returns to investors since inception, at least in relation to the 'Sky Car'. Ever wonder what happens when the motor(s) stops here? - see www.moller.comThe Co-axial helicopter, aka - 'air scooter' has been around for years in many variants, it is certainly not a new concept in aviation, you may remember the Russian 'Kamov' helicopter used to lift the Olympic statues onto the Centrepoint tower, same thing, much bigger though. Ever wonder what happens when the motor stops with this one too? - see www.airscooter.comThe Carter copter is an inovation on a gyroplane / gyrocopter, which have been around since invented circa 1921, invented by Juan Cierva in Spain. I know what happens when the engine stops on one of these, I fly one every now and then, if they were treated a little more seriously as an aviation alternative to motor cars and bikes there would be no freeway congestion. When the motor stops on these we can land them in very limited areas, much safer than the dreams you've shown here.Don't think that these machines are new ideas, they've been around for ages, back in 1952 we had these machines, the 'Gyrodyne', built by the Fairey corporation in Britain was an awesome machine with huge capabilities, it was scrapped after Government orders were withdrawn, like a lot of good things, sunk by the government, usually under the influence of some American corporation with a finger in the pie.We design and build our own single seater and two seat machines over here, we have the capability and none of it utilised due to our 'cringe', that is, an inherent mistrust of our own skills and talents to do something great for ourselves. If you'd like more information - see www.asra.org.au for same.Cheers,Nick Tomlin.
