Hi Shane, I"m using an older hand held icon a-22 unit. I have to do a bit of work on the antenna to increase range but it works ok for where I fly. I know there are plenty of hand held VHF units in single seat gyros. Ring up a few instructors or TA"s and ask what is most popular in their area maybe? just a thought. I"m not very savvy with wiring them up so I"m no help On what"s best but what is in my rig works. Good luck.matt

UHF is different I think but VHF Airband 760 channel is the same.
