i now think ol brian is referring to peters being the mastermind behind the amax redrive........as do a lot of other folks............but that is not true actually ( the redrive)That concept/design/construction/testing, and hrs of flying was done by ol mate les edgerton ( cane farmer innisfail NQ ) way way back late 70"s. My memory back then was peters heard about this method of redrive, heard it was going great, he rang les and asked him for info etc.......les being les, he gave peters all the info he needed to get one built, he also gave peters the Ok to market them if he wanted to.So there you have the story how these redrives came to be.( les and his good wife pat,are now retired south of innisfail ( curramine beach )........these 2 folks were a driving force re ASRA for many yrs, how their efforts have never been acknowledged as "life members".......is beyond me, yet less deserving folks ( 1 in particular ) have been acknowledged..........unreal.Another flyer.......Bob Higgins........this guy all but went to prison for your rights to fly gyros without ridiculous restrictions/rules, etc way back in the 70"s, he was an unbelievable man,he defied direct orders from the powers to be, he openly irritated those folks........this guy to this day is denied plaudits from ASRA. Us "older" gyro folks, we all know them early yrs well, acknowledgments to folks like the 3 above, and some others, is long long overdue, and will continue unaddressed.Thankyou you 3 above, for your dedication, your refusal to throw in the towel when things got hard, your dreams for gyros..........thankyou

Max Peters supposedly built the Amax re drive and back in the early 90"s, had a single seater that he designed ? Anyway, he marketed the things. I will see if I can find the photos cause he had a tall tail and it looked reasonably CLT to a rough look. Anyway, I have a gyro in the shed here that originally belonged to Doug Mc Donughe [spelling"s not right sorry] Victoria, I did a bit over 1,000 hours in it and it was one of the best machines to teach you about rotor management & inertia

Max ol son..........some yrs back i raised the matter re "life membership" for several older members.......about 5...7 of them. The work they did them yrs to get asra up and running........to keep asra up and running, and with so many of us dropping out of the skies like flies them days, and powers that be about ready to pull the pin on gyros......it was interesting times to say the least. Not to mention ol russy here island hopping to PNG unannounced.....( that"s a story for later maybe )But seriously..........the topic re "life membership" for older special folks, was something the board were not interested in..........just got a nod, that was about it. yet a former president was given life membership couple of yrs back......same president was embroiled in serious controversy.....resigned belatedly, continued behind the scenes crap, and still holds life membership...............UNREAL"newer" generation gyro folks, appear to recognise only newer generation folks, genuine old timers just miss out......and it"s bleedin shameful of asra......sorry"PB"........will be watching with interest what you post re them days............errors will be questioned......by me.Max........bob travelled up to NQ some yrs back, stayed a night or 2 with les and pat, i was away so couldn"t meet up as was planned, me n him spoke often them early days. He also sold gyro parts etc them days.

"PB"........will be watching with interest what you post re them days............errors will be questioned......by me.Russ, if you think I give a s##t as to what your opinion is, I don"t, and never have.To you appreciative folks I will do my best, and start an "Oz Early Gyro Days" thread. It began in 1961 with a backyard gyro factory in Melbourne, more than a decade before Bob Higgins continued the fight and won the right to fly gyroplanes legally.Aussie Paul.

just "facts" please paul........that"s what i"m asking History has proven that you and facts, don"t go hand in hand......( that"s not my opinion.....it"s a FACT )........pity actually, as you have good knowledge, a lot of experience, and folks would be interested in the early yrs.A "thread" re those times is a good idea.......get folks up to speed re then, i have a shyte load of pics etc. prob is they are paper pics so reproducing them to this format is beyond me.Folks like.........tweedies/kays/cambells/larkins/higgins/goodwins/edgertons/boatswains/and more......all played a huge part in gyros for many yrs ( as did you )( asked to change a couple of words....for peace and harmony.....so i did )

Hopefully Tim Mac could fill in the BH mob and if anyone has anything [ and it has to be reasonably factual] so that it could be put in a GN or on disk
