  • Who and why??

Rumour has it that a gyro pilot, had his machine grounded and had to trailer it out again, and had the book thrown at him also, after he landed at a big CASA run airshow, especially after his low level and no radio call approach and landing. From what i haerd it was a restircted air space show.Anyone know anything about this?? ;D i hope it true what i heard i near p*ssed myself when i was told.

Which airshow? Where? I don"t mind the cowboys flying but to do it in public like that, I hope the book was thrown hard.

Bones,You"re sort of right. There was an incident at the Avalon "Airshow" recently, but specific details are not readily available yet. I"m waiting on an incident report. What I do know is that he was grounded and was not permitted to fly out that day. I also believe that his procedures including radio use were text book, so I think that part of the rumour is incorrect.Waddles.

The same rules apply to RRA aus aircraft as well. You can understand the airshows reluctance to have slower aircraft in the circuit area mixing it with all types of aircraft. With a dedicated landing area for the gyros & ultralights, it wouldn"t be a problem .Anyway, just shows how the rumour mill can get it wrong.
