Biggus,A couple of points,in no particular order. Please forget any ideas about a Bensen/Roscoe type machine. With the size prop you will need to lift the required weight you are talking about, the thrustline will be getting even more out of whack than it allready is.Your Continental GA engine is predominantly designed to be at the front of the aircraft getting 100+ knots of clean air over the barrels. Its not going to get that in a side by side gyro at 60 knots. There have been successful GA engine gyros over the years but they mainly have been light tandems.Dont pull apart a perfectly good engine just because its reached some arbitrary "TBO". If the Continental 0-360 you have was running well ,even on "condition", dont mess with it.Commercial GA (and RA-Aus) are the only sector of aviation that seem to cling to this stupid idea. There is no time limit on engines in ASRA gyro"s.Even in the compliant category.I will try and find a picture of a Dominator style tandem Myself and Brian Maloney built a few years back.It was fitted with an EJ 22 130 HP and would easily lift two 100KG+ people with full fuel (80 LTS) It "could" be fitted with a GA type engine and you wouldnt need to build the keel as high to obtain CLT if a dirct drive GA engine was fitted.

Hi Biggus,You may already know but there is a gyro in the US designed for those with a fuller figure. Apparently it has a Subaru WRX motor and around 300hp. I believe it is made by Larry Neal, it is not a side by side but the pictures I have seen are pretty amazing. A fellow named Jim Toevs has one. I know his wife Chris who also flies gyros and I do know they have had some problems getting the machine airworthy but it may be of some help in your research. Both Jim and Chris are contactable through the Rotary Wing Forum.
