HiCan anyone tell me the mtow in NZ for an ela 07s with a 914 motor?

runway, wind/ weather, pressure all affect mtow
Remember: no matter where you go, there you are

I understand , but I mean legally. The factory say its 450 kg but in oz its 550 kg , so with my self and instructor we are 200 kg we would have no capacity at 450 kg for fuel .......that is where im coming from

What does the ELA manual say? If NZ registers the aircraft it will have either accepted or amended the manual which you are required to follow. What the manual says, is what you should be going by?

According to ELA Asia, it is indeed 450Kg, so that allows $260kg for the bare machine empty, 190Kg for 2 bods and fuel....If you have added any extras like radios, tablets or more instruments, that"s less weight of crew? .... so if you weigh 90kg and your passenger weighs 100kg, you cant take any fuel?

If ELA,s are the same as MTO,s there are different weight limits in different countries for some reason. Neil Sheather or Sam Polyak should know the answer for Australia. It gets a bit awkward at times whether i should take fuel or the missus, wish there was a way of taking a bit of both.

Yeah that 450 Kg would be best scenario, ya gotta watch air density if cross country and refuel on a hot day at altitude AGL, you may get a flat takeoff. It can catch you out and i believe ELA is heavier than MTO. Some manufactures say Cruise at 95 knots and VNE at 105 yeah ok good tail wind, My VNE is about 85, My manual is self preservation.Mike.

Mauw is per the country"s aviation authority. Ela with 914 will take off at 8500 feet density altitude with 600 kg all up.Mto3 is lighter but Ela"s blades are wider and will get airborne quicker.

Yeah no worries i just remember Armidale Altitude 3556 ft it was about 35 deg C and pilot passenger about 150 kg we stopped for full fuel load 68 ltrs about say 210 kg total load and a flat take off. eased up on RPM at about 1000 and steady say +50 to 100 FPM on altimeter caught a nice thermal happy days. Probably would have been tough going at 38 Deg C. Just my experience and a lot to think about on X country and air density. Mike.

Blake your density altitude was +- 6586 feet. This should not be a problem with the weight you have quoted. Our airport was @ 5800 feet and density is 8768 feet at 30 degrees. In summer it will go up to 36 degrees and a density altitude of 9300 feet. No problem.

Yeah, I guess that most people would tend to overweight the machine (by what the manuals places limits) It would be nice if manufacturers didn"t have to constantly cover their a$$es all the time and they could just incorporate accurate figures.

Yeah Muz and throw a variable pitch prop in for extra comfort. Just as long as people are aware of it as ya don"t want to find out ya too heavy after take off.Mike.

People know their machines, if they don"t, they shouldn"t be flying them. In all truth, probably a machine with 100kg over is safer than a machine at the lower limit (bare machine with 1/5th fuel and 60kg pilot)I just think it would be good if the factories could do accurate weight capabilities of the machine..... if it can fly happily with 800kg all up weight, say so.... if they say 750kg is the max safe load.... say that.... but say the country you are flying in may have a lower limit which must be obeyed)Just saying a flat 450kg mtow is silly.... if they are serious, that"s all it can "safely" carry, then the airframes need to be beefed up to carry more, otherwise not much good as a 2 seater if one wants to be allowed to carry any fuel

I just looked Raf Wikipedia page. Emty weight 358 kg gross weight 698 kg. 600 kg is not unrealistic in a gyro.
