  • ULP 95/98 and oil change

Hi guys, what are your thoughts as to ULP95 or ULP98 in owner gyros. My trainer gyro (soon to be my very own) uses ULP95. Is 98 worth the extra coin. Does it make a marginal difference that paying more for higher octane or is it evidently better on performance/engine. Magni16, 912 rotax, 300hrs. Also, recommended oil change at 100hrs. I've been advised by couple of guys they change theirs at 25hrs; 50hrs; 100hrs. I think the 25hrs would be too soon; the 50hr change more reasonable but is that really necessary?

I use both 98 @ 95 and cannot tell the difference between them. Most owners I know do oil changes every 50 hours unless I use Avgas and then I would change the oil as soon as possible but no longer than 20 hours. When traveling through the outback the most popular PULP is 95.... Oh yeah, price also helps decide what grade I use.
I was told that 95 has a better shelf life than 98 but cannot back that up with any evidence.
