I got my EJ20 motor started today and goes great and now need the instruments . I plan to run a water temp gauge, an oil pressure gauge and tacho. Can anyone tell me whether the standard VDO range of instruments will do or do I need specialised gauges for the subie.PeteBairnsdale,Vic.

If you blow a radiator hose a big red light comes on. As an instructor it is difficult to watch the instruments as often as when solo.I use VDO stuff and I reckon it is ok.I have those tyres and tubes for you. Rent won't be too bad if you get them within a couple of weeks mate!!!![]Ok on getting the ej-20 going. I guess it was one of my U beaut ECUs that did the trick!!!![^] Getting closer now to when you will be pitting yourself against those students who seem to think that instructors do not deserve to live!!!!!![]And you an ex copper too. I'll have to come and watch!!!!Aussie Paul.[]www.firebirdgyros.com

Hi Paul, Thanks for the useful stuff in your comments and no thanks for the other stuff. I still have friends in hight places so watch it. I do thank you for the email showing the tyre types. I went down to my local Deutscher agent and ordered a set not thinking you were actually holding onto a set for me. They came up with them last week but when collecting them found them to be the block pattern and not the rib type as needed. They appologised and re-ordered so I think they will turn up this week. If you don't want them I will buy them off you but I don't really need them at the moment. No your computers were not needed other than a useful test to establish the motor did not miraculously start once they were attached. The problem was the power supply to the injectors was interrupted, and once that was solved, the other problem was sticky injectors that needed a little persuasion to start working. All well now and your help has been appreciated. On the instruments, I will tell my electrical man that a water pressure light would be very desirable. Good one. Are there different VDO gauges for different motors or do they all read similar outputs from the motor and any will do? Where do you get the gauges from? Also are you going to Phillip Island next weekend for the fly-in?PeteBairnsdale,Vic.
