We all get jokes, pics, videoes etc etc etc, via emails. We can save them, we can on forward them.Ok, all seems Ok...............................but it ain"t.Imbeded in some mails are pics etc from another recipient that get unknowingly sent to you and other folks that get the mail.................those pics find their way into your pewtar. You being totally unaware of this now prob, you send your pics to other folks, if they have the software " Pic and Fax viewer"
If you aim for nothing, you'll hit it every time

Russel, try this. Do a search of the files and folders on your computer for the word iexplore. The genuine iexplore windows program is all lower case. There will be a number of these come up but if any are spelt with some or all capital letters then they are a false windows program run by a virus. I had one on my computer and tried three or four different antivirus scans before I got one that zapped it. "Stopzilla" its called, cost ten dollars for a year. It also got another bug that my antivirus gear let in.

Graeme, not sure of the official website but do a google seach and you can track it down. You can download it and do a free scan but to zap anything it finds you have to pay the ten bucks. I paid by card and was able to zap the bugs within five minutes.I"m not sure how this stopzilla is rated in the scheme of things but it got a couple of bugs that the others missed so thats what I am using.

I am sadly disappointed.Trade in that new pewter on a Mac. We do not have virus and malware etc, so we do not waste money on anti such programs. Yeah, I do have an antivirus in case I pass on a virus from a Windoze machine. If you have some legacy programs you must run, then the Mac will run as a Windows machine. Elegant design, elegant to use. When you buy your Mac get an external hard disk, because amongst many great free programs is Time Machine. It just backs up your computer seemlessly. By radio if you get the Mac hard disk, no wires. You will not regret your move. Rock solid Unix operating system. Graham

Russell, here"s how the iexplore bug gets on your computer. Looks to be mostly through emails.http://www.articlesbase.com/security...htmlApparantly the virus hides in a legitimit file and runs fake programs. If you delete the programs the virus starts them up again. I found three or four other programs the virus was running. When Stopzilla got the virus it also cleaned up the programs it was running.Dean, I looked on the computer forums and tried what was considered the best antivirus scans. All of these run five minute scans and got nothing. The stopzilla scan took thirty minutes and picked up two viruses. When I used it to remove the viruses it cleaned up the programs that I knew were false. After reading your post I did a few searches on Stopzilla and although the people on computer forums dont like it, it seems to be legit.

At about 3pm this afternoon I opened Emails from a family member and one from a mate I have known for 30 years. Afterwards the computer seemed to run a bit slower so I run a search for IEXPLORE. Sure enough it was back on there. Will have to find a new anti virus scan to get rid of this one. Anyone have any thoughts on whats going on?
