.........Hi all. Well another year has disappeared and we have just passed the two year mark since my accident. Last week Infectious Diseases decided, after reviewing the last several months of blood tests, to take me off the three antibiotics that have been causing a number of side effects including a general feeling of being unwell. We are hoping that any infection will remain dormant and I will feel much better. Removing the metal, back in March, was quite an extensive operation, and physically I have not recovered to where I was last Christmas. Mentally though, I have made much better progress. We have taken a couple of weekend trips away but mostly our lives at the moment revolve around medical and rehabilitation appointments. It appears my recovery is now stabilising so I will have to adjust to being somewhat disabled. Now that we have some idea of what my capabilities will be we are looking at downsizing our living accommodation to something more suitable to our needs. I had been hoping that I would be capable of making a few bits and pieces in my shed but that appears unlikely. The lower back pain, limited dexterity, and a lack of balance due to my ankle damage, make doing much quite difficult.Several weeks ago I conducted my gyroplane check flight which, of course, was quite enjoyable. Eril and I stayed in Melbourne with our daughter Emma after an appointment at the burns department of the Alfred hospital. The following day the three of us drove to Mangalore airport where I flew with instructor Sam LaBruna. I hope to occasionally have a fly but at the moment my highest priority is to keep improving health wise and for Eril and I to enjoy our forced retirement!!!I hope you all have a very Happy and Holy Christmas and that the New Year bring all that you desire.Regards, Paul and Eril
