Which beacon to use?

First off, hope everyone had a good Xmas. Just got my student pack and have been reading the Ops manual regarding operating within 8 kms of an aerodrome. It states that a gyro must be fitted with a flashing beacon. Just wondering what type have other people used? The gyro I am purchasing has a strobe fitted underneath, is this acceptable or does it have to be the type as used on emergency vehicles? How big, how small?

Bruce,In short the strobe your machnie has as long as it is an aircraft one is all you will need on that side of it. A radio and radio endosrement wouldnt go a stray IMHO.

Bruce,If you hold a RAAus radio endorsement then yes that will/should carry over, depending on how current it is.
