Anyone using this unit with your handheld VHF Radio?

Gidday Chook,Mitch is in WA at the moment for his Dad"s funeral.He spoke at length to me a couple of days ago about his success. He"s wrapped. Tuned to 127.0 but apparently good throughout the range. The home made antenna is the whip affair mounted above the nosewheel. The other is possibly an old antenna or just a mount for the yaw string. Can"t remember.Waddles.

Thanks Al,Chook, we are preping for a funeral so I wont be able to catch-up with anyone whilst here in WA. I"m staying with family near to the city.The black tube comming out of the instrument pod is a drip feed hose stand. It did have a yaw string attached and it is set at eye level. This is my horizon reference point.The funny V shaped thing is the home made half wave dipole aerial and testing to this point has been very positive. Still some in air testing to be done and looking forward to a big cross country excursion with ole mate Nudge. Once that"s done I"ll report back. I appreciate your help Chook. I have tested this aerial setup fairly extensively in the last month or two.Best $30 I ever spent.Air to air comms and air to ground comms are excellent.It is a joy to fly with a radio/antenna system that works very well.I cleaned up the install and made a proper mount for the radio, shortened the main coaxial cable and have left the aerial where it was originally installed.I have not, nor do I feel the need to have a meter put on it as it is out performing most other radio setups.Thanks to all who contributed to this thread.I can recommend this aerial to anyone wanting to improve their comms.Have a great Easter next week.Mitch
