bones i wasnt talking about your white machine , ive seen it work . i most likely got the posts mixed up but im sure you worked out which one i meant.Tony,Thats fine i am not offended by any posts, Brick to you also. The mast on the mungrel is back at 5*, which i thought would have been enough after measurements of the white machine,(should have been a full 9*) however the hang was not so friendly, so the head still had to go back and this is why it looks like it does, the rest of the machine actually fits together pretty good, the seat is up enough to give the hopefully right clt thing, the tail does have enough power, the upside down rotor blade has been proven to be very powerful, all in all the machine im pretty happy with, not the best "looking" machine i ever saw either but it works(very well).P.S.
Hey BonesDont think i was having a go at you , i was just trying to get across a different point a fewThe White one just looks crowded with the pod.... it just doesnt look right ... and the tall tail looks like it shouldnt be thereTo me and only my opinion it looks messy and i wouldnt buy it for that fact.Well im 6"1" and i managed to sit very comfortably in behind the pod for 1500hrs, and it is the most comfortable machine i ever flown. The other one the seat is off putting .... it looks a uncomfortable machineWhy is this, again a serious question?Like i said it was built to take my body size, and it does fit me very well, i dont understand....... or is it just because it is high???
[got side tracked again]and i,m sure every body knows someone in hard ship, if some one has the right response please let me know.Is Rob P on the dry side??Aussie Paul.
EchoThat was a very smart looking machineBones Yeah the seat doesnt look right i have had a another look and it is high and the shape of it doesnt suit the machine. The tail doesnt suit either looks funny not being at the end of da kiel( not a good speller either)But i do know about thrust lines etc which would be more important than looksIm only one person tho bones ... my opinion doesnt change much in this world lolCheers
Hi Brick,The Seat tank is a standard seat tank that are built for gyro"s you will see alot out there and they are quite good, I do agree that the tail group does look a bit slapped on, but as Mark said the gyro is for build a purpose. Mark,I like the idea of having a storage box, somewhere to chuck ya tie down rope, water etcOne thing i would do if i was the builder and i"ve seen it done before is to split the mast above the engine and tilt the mast back that further 4 degrees or whatever it needs to the head inline or slightly forward of the mast by 2 1/2 inches, (Now this is my opinion only, the reason i would do that is to relieve any undue bending stresses on the mast, please correct me if this isn"t an issue)Other than that i reckon it would make someone a nice mustering machine with a good power to weight ratio.
Brick, the seat is the best you can get, i wouldn"t want to crash in any thing else[ thats from experience] it really only mounts one way and and thats it. yeah the tool box would be a winner too.
Looks to me like we are all at a crossroads in gyro design. Most of us who have been flying for a couple of years are used to having God awful looking machines and now that the European machines are becoming more common, the great unwashed look at the traditional machines and make comments like "you fly that?"?? ??? ???There is no doubt that Gyros have become pricey in the last couple of years, but there is a reason for it. You still might be able to pick up a VW powered machine for a couple of grand and a carton of grog, but when you get to fly it you will wish that you still had the carton of grog to keep the engine cool! ;D I know, because I have one in the shed and after a couple of laps of the airstrip paddock, its time to land (whether you want to or not) and have a nice quiet time in the shade until the metal cools down enough for the oil to stop running out of the seals that are supposed to keep it in ;DRotax motors are overpriced to blazes, until you are flying next to one of them in your Soobie and for the same revs and airspeed, your mate is climbing like he hit a thermal and you are left wishing you didnt eat so much Christmas pudding :Gyros are ugly, draggy and slow. They get prettier, slicker and Quicker according to how much money you have to have to spend on them, its that simple!Mark
Well Bosca (birdy"s mate) it seems that my machines with rotax motors are too over priced after all did you look at the latest listing, stick that in ya pipe and smoke it you drop kick.
