  • Track your flights

http://www.gpsoz.com.au/spot/index.htmDarryn in Townsville has introduced me to a GPS tracking device called a spot. We will be using the Spot on our journey to Uluru/ Ayers rock on the 23 September until the 2 October 2011.I found this device essential and useful for piece of mind. Your supporters and family can track you on a real time bases every 10 minutes. This is a must have in my book for Gyro pilots!http://www.everydayhero.com.au/uluru...tRegards,Colin

That is a great idea Colin. We have been following the guy trying to fly his gyro around the world during the last 12 months with either the Spot or similar system.Aussie Paul.

This is a pretty cool bit of kit! Great way to follow your progress during the "big fly".

The "Spot" is a great gadget. They are no replacement for a proper ELB though and if you fly anymore than 5 k from the strip you take off on, then a beacon is a necessity.

Yes, I agree that is good advice! We will be carrying the 406MHz EPIRB in each of the Gyro"s and in the ground crew vehicles. We have checked that the registration is still valid as you have to re-register every 2 years, and time flies!Colin
