  • Four Spaniards around Oz

There are 4 Spaniards leaving from Somersby (northern Sydney) tomorrow morning for a gyro trip around Oz. They have had their machines shipped out from Spain for the adventure. They are sharing 2 gyros, one Magni M16 and an ELA. They will be heading north circumnavigating the country following the coastline, with the usual diversions around restricted airspace. If you happen to see these fellows on their travels, take the time to say G"day, their english isn"t great, but you have to admire their sense of adventure.

I will try and find out where they are but I"m pretty sure they were only spending four weeks here so should be back at Somersby next week.

Good onya Chook, they were going around Oz anti clockwise Muz. When they get back here I will see if they can write a short story about their adventure and put it on the forum.Talk about military airspace a gyro pilot down here had a close call with a fighter jet last weekend. It was one of those old fighter jets that they now use for joy flights but the radio chatter was interesting to say the least.

Rick, my wife was listening to Macca on Sunday (life is too short to listen him over speaking his guests and forgetting the answers they give him!) but mentioned that some guy called Rick had offered him a flight in a gyro.Wouldn"t know anything about that would you???Regards.....Chook.

Yeah Chook I have gotten tired of the negative reactions I get when I tell people that I fly a gyro so I thought that if I could take some media type people for a fly in one of the "new generation" gyros it might help change their perception.Probably a waste of time but I will keep chipping away. I was away on the weekend on a flying trip to Griffith and didn"t hear it on the radio, good to know that he at least read it though.

It is good to get the information outthere. We have had a small delay in our training, so to save the $$ on hangerage, we pulled the blades off our MTO Sport and trailered her home. The reactions of people as you drive through suburban streets with a new generation gyro on the trailer wa amazing.Of course, when Ben pushes her out onto the front lawn for her weekly bath, he has an audience too!!! ;D ;D
