  • Rotax V6

This new Rotax V6 comes with or without a Turbo. It is Fadec controled.I dont have the specs yet but I am looking into it.I think that this is the way to go for a working Firebird. There are available, electrically controled in flight, constantspeed props for the 4 stroke Rotax engines. So such a prop should be able to be controled by the the Fadec in a Gyro the same as the FW application. It looks very promising !Image Insert: 31.56

Birdy, apparently they are available but I have no details yetas I am waiting for replies to my enquiries. I put a post up about Fadec.Basicly its a magic box that controls the engine for best and safeperformance under all conditions and can keep the engine in tune or altered via a lap top ?All you do is use the throttle as normal and the Fadec will look after the engine settings automatically for all conditions and altitude. With the onboard diagnostics you get peak performanceand longer engine life and best economy because it cant run rough,if you see what I mean. For a hard working Gyro, this has to be a good thing !Rotorway Helicopters have been making their own engines and Fadecsystem for many years now. They offer a service whereby youdownload the digital data to your laptop after a flight and emailit to them in the USA. They will do the analysis, make alterationsto retune the engine to peak performance and send it back to you.You just upload it back to the Fadec and Bob's yer cousin.Big and corporate jets and military aircraft and formula one race cars have been using it for some years now and at last we can too !On formula one machines, Chucky just points the thing and hits thethrottle, duh.The 12 year old kids in the pits and back at their headquaters, control the engine. While its on the move they can change the engine perfomance with altering track conditions, like temperature or rain. They can change the thing for different tracks whereby you may need more low down torque at a different location etc.Its good stuff !I miss the old days and the way we used to do it but today, thingsare just to expensive to mess with and bits have to be protected, eh.Robert DunnMackay. Qld.Growing old is good while it lasts.

I would estimate the cost to be about 3 x 912's or 30 x 2.2 Subarus, with exchange replacement or rebuild @ major about $30,000.Tim McClure
