G'Day Gents,Many of you may have seen the 60 Minutes story last night. I thought as did most of the American Mob, that it was pretty 'thin' in content and should have touched on the average man's gyro. However, there are some major press releases of the SSC (Super Sky Cycle) comming my way from Larry and I will post what I can.The SSC will be fly/drive demonstrated at OshKosh this year. I plan to spend 10 days with Larry in Tx prior to the PRA Convention and OshKosh, helping with preparations. Reportedly the SSC does 53 mph on the road. It will have jump take-off capability and be fully enclosed. It is one of the new PAV's (Personal Aircraft Vehicles) that the 60 minutes story was aimed at. The Golden Butterfly morphs into the Super Sky Car and can be seen in the back ground, pic taken at the Onley Flyin Tx. U.S.A. Anyone seeking more info can email or phone me, OR check out Larry Neal's Business Plan on his web site, listed below.Cheers,Mitch.Image Insert: 44.24

I've always reckoned a flying motorcycle would be the go. Particularly after seeing a Molt Taylor Aerocar fly into Winterhaven when I was doing my float endorsement.A lot of the sporty 250cc machines are fairly light and have good performance so why not put a wing or rotor on one, as well as an engine for flying. Leave all that junk at the strip when you arrive, and reattach it when you want to leave.Apparently there was one very promising flying car project some years ago, but its developers died when the flying bit and the road bit detached in flight.John EvansThink logically and do things well, think laterally and do things better.

You blokes are crazy. Motorbikes fall over on the ground and most blokes who ride them are idiots:not a good combination. Ive got an insurance assessor mate who always greats me with: "gravity is still working for me". By the way if anyone has ever ridden a trike (harley or dub) they would know what dangerous heaps of ... they are. 3 wheels only work if there are 2 at the front. I know I'm opinionated but I think it's all pie in the sky. Some people can't drive or ride properly so you wouldn't put them in the air. Also there are a lot of unrealistic dreams that seem wonderfull on the surface but are really publicity stunts and should remain that! It's difficult to get a car or bike through ADR's so there is no way a multi function vehicle will get through it at a realistic price. Cessna had a dream for the masses which has been the most successful to date, but in the big picture a mild failure . Robinson the same with the R22. I'll probably be proved wrong because I've said this now. Would be good if I was, But it won't happen. Geez imagine the carpark kaos, getting a trolley stuck in your rotors, or dicing the mum and 3 kids. Bikes were made for race tracks, and gyro's for eccentrics Ken.

Kenccentric Ol Mate,[]Give me your email address, I have some stuff for you to read, Sun and Fun press release and News paper article on SSC, will address your ADR's reference with respect to what the Yanks can do. I agree we may never have the need for or legislation to allow this in Oz. Larry's designing in a 15 degree tilt on the mains, supposedly to give the trike better cornering handling. Knowing you have a great deal of experience in this area, how do you think the tilt cornering mechanism will assist handling? I respect your point of veiw Ken but I think Larry has approached this long lived dream of flying cars, from the right direction, turning a gyro into a trike bike and the SAT's NASA run programme and PAV's of the future are happening in many guises as we speak. Benson did the same thing but Larry de-clutches the prop for highway driving, Benson did not have this luxury and the drive gyro was thus considered dangerous.Like I said, not winding you up, have some good stuff for you to puruse if you wish. This stuff is far better than anything 60 minutes had to offer.[]Email...rocksfly@dodo.com.au and I'll send the package through. Gents, this same package will be available off of Larry's web site soon but if anyone else would like a look sooner, email me. Cheers,Mitch.www.thebutterflyllc.com

Hope they succeed Greg but they will have to refine the look. I have learnt one important thing about gyro's: weight is critical and I think they will be up against it. Try sticking 20kg of lead on yours and you'll see what I mean. My single seaters performance would decrease substantially if you filled the tank right up, so imagine what big brakes ,tyres, lights, etc will do. I reckon those forks and front wheel will render it a roadrunner. I don't think they fly this one. All the best mate. KenP.s He's got no springs in the front forks

Have you seen these machines ?http://www.ecomobile.com/Just great.Put a rotor, prop and stab on it and you have a ready to fly rodable gyro.Aerodynamics is already perfect []PTKay

Cheers Ken,All big projects need some luck along the way.Well we will just have to wait and see, all things being equal I will see it fly officially at Oshkosh this year.[] My Butterfly is only 105 kgs, I can afford some extra stuff, if I keep my weight constant. Might be an extra 60 or 70 lbs on SSC, remember Monarch has a 60-70lbs advantage over similar AirCommand. I don't know but even if there is more added weight say 100 lbs, surely this would still be less weight added to craft than a second chair, with extra fuel and two up. 532 and 582 Rotax's have been used for two up training and when I do my comparisons, I know it's possible and Larry Neal has the capacity, ability and the nouse to make it happen.Part of the overall R & D on this is to take a Butterfly, make a Monarch, add GFLG and turn into a SSC. The product range is all plug and play type stuff. If this SSC were not to successfully fly then continuity of the plan is broken.[][!] I hope she's a "roadrunning grasshopper".[]Here's a nice little pic.Birdy,Allan tells me GFLG has no tendancy to let down first on one side or the other on flat strip and is slowly working up to the right drop in technique. More testing next week apparently.Cheers,Mitch.www.thebutterflyllc.comImage Insert: 60.63
