G'Day Gents,Dont get to fly often enough. Clocked up another couple of hrs with my good mate Nigel taking pics from his trike. We dropped into George Town for a coffee and a chat after checking out areas of the Tamar River and surrounding mountains. Fantastic day.All you Blokes training....hang in there....it is worth the investment in time and $$.Fly Safe.Mitch.Image Insert: 52.37

Cheers Russ,Nigel does a great job from his trike. This first pic is me, another shot from a few weeks back on the Bridport flight. Geoff Blackberry same day in his lightened/re-configured gyro. Edit: Correction...you can see the side tanks on gyro, so this must be an old pic throwen in with the recent stuff.Fly Safe.Image Insert: 58.1Â KBImage Insert: 45.79Â KBwww.thebutterflyllc.com

G'Day Gents,Couple of more pics curtesy of Nigel taken from trike. Also an old pic of Geff Blackberry's once marginal gyro, side tanks have been removed and suspension reconfigured. I believe Geff was able to lighten the craft by nearly 13 1/2 kgs (30 lbs) and now gets much better performance and is enjoying the flying again.Fly Safe.Image Insert: 77.16

I hear ya Tim, need to apply for an altitude endorsement. Forever climbing over mountains and down the other side. Would burn a lot less fuel if I could maintain a straight and level. I reckon altitude, beach and cross country endorsements are a must for flying around Tassie. When you comming down Mark?Nick, 50hp and 60" is all it takes.Mitch.www.thebutterflyllc.com

Greg just out of curiousity what speed does that trike get along at comfortably, i see in one pic it shows about 47 kts, what speed do you fly at to stay with him???Remember -- A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...BUT a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Damn...that was fun!"Mark

Mark,Nigel will slip along at 45-50 knots very comfortably. He flys the trike like a gyro. Gets it off very quickly and drops her in with very step angles and pulls her up quick. Very impressive to watch him fly. I like to cruise between 35-40 knots, ocassionally I take the Butterfly to 50 knots with no apparent bad habits. 45 knots is where I have to be to stay with him, of course he's always above me and to one side and generally just ahead of me, as he shows me the area and available local private strips. He has taken me 'under his wing' so to speak and is educating me to locality, weather ect. Nigel has flown all sort of craft for many years, even New Guinea and has an old VW direct drive Benson hangered on his property with his two trikes. When I get the chance I will go tandem in the trike with Nigel and check out some of the country further afield in prep for a cross country endorsement.Cheers Bonsey,Mitch.www.thebutterflyllc.com

G'Day Pete,Sure is a beautifull island state, with lots of Tiger country. I spoke to Allan Wardill, ASRA Opps Mgr today regarding an altitude endorsement application. This will certainly help extend the safety envelope for glide, given an engine out, whilst navigating some of the wider patchs of tall timber. I'm still very new to this flying Pete, 14 1/4 hrs of solo. I just have the best fun flying a gyro. What's your story Pete? Do you fly or want to? If you have a craft how about some pics.I can't ever see myself walking away from this, it's way tooo much fun. And to actually be a part of a very small group of sport flyers that when flying their gyros, see the world in a completely unique way. For me it's the ultimate magic carpet ride, the only way to fly......just gotta figure out a way to carry enough fuel (note to self: get advice from Waddells) to island hop across that 'bloody big ditch'.Cheers Pete.Mitch.Pete, just read your post on the McCutchens blade thread to find you been flying for years, good to have you on the forum. How about a pic or two from the Bairnsdale area. Isn't Dewie from around those parts? Drove through there on the way to Cooma. Nice. I'd like to do some flying around there. Cheers. www.thebutterflyllc.com
